Clarke County supervisors approve budget amendment, set June 29 hearing to vacate Hopeville rights-of-way

At the meeting held at the Clarke County Courthouse in Osceola, Chairman Randy Dunbar called the session to order at 9:00 a.m. Supervisor Brian Sorensen moved to approve the agenda; Dean Robins seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board opened a public hearing on Resolution 26-077 to amend the FY2025–26 budget. Brian Sorensen moved to open the hearing and Dean Robins seconded; the record shows there were no objections in person or in writing. After closing the hearing, the board approved the budget amendment and department appropriations as published. Dean Robins moved to approve the amendment, Brian Sorensen seconded, and the vote was recorded as Ayes: Randy Dunbar, Dean Robins and Brian Sorensen; Nays: None. The resolution was signed May 11, 2026.
The board approved Resolution 26-078, granting an entrance variance to Loren Hall for property in Section 29 of Jackson Township. The motion was made by Brian Sorensen and seconded by Dean Robins; the vote was unanimous.
The board considered Resolution 26-079, a resolution submitted by the county engineer that describes proposed vacations of north/south and east/west right-of-way segments and alleyways in both East Hopeville and Original Hopeville. The resolution enumerates the specific blocks and adjacent right-of-way segments proposed for vacation. The supervisors set a public hearing on the proposed vacation for 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2026, in the Clarke County Board Room at the courthouse in Osceola in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 306.
The supervisors also approved a three-year contract with Cost Advisory Services under Resolution 26-080. The motion to approve the contract was made by Brian Sorensen and seconded by Dean Robins; the vote was unanimous.
Under Resolution 26-081, the board approved payment of claims submitted from May 5 through May 11, 2026. The motion was made by Dean Robins and seconded by Brian Sorensen; the vote was recorded as unanimous. Published fund totals for the claim period included: General Basic Fund $146,137.36; General Supplement Fund $1,944.83; Rural Services Basic Fund $159.00; Assessor $1,867.02.
With no further business, Brian Sorensen moved to adjourn; Dean Robins seconded and the meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m. The minutes were signed by Chairman Randy Dunbar and attested by Auditor Jessica Graves.
