The Anthem Way Foundation on Tuesday recapped its 2025 activities, telling the board that the foundation closed the year with a positive net income "just over $2,000," lower than the approximately $35,000 surplus it had budgeted.
Mr. Dinkowski, presenting the foundation’s annual report, said the Anthem Veterans Memorial hosted two fall paver-laying ceremonies that together placed more than 100 veteran pavers and included a second ceremony honoring 20 special-operations veterans who died in Operation Red Wing. He also reported that the Jim Martin annual STEM scholarship was awarded to three students — Logan Strout, Benjamin Heiner and Lennon Hammond — and that planning is already underway for 2026 events.
The board heard that Memorial Day at the AVM was organized as a day of silent reflection, and that Veterans Day featured a precise 11:11 a.m. illumination of the memorial’s Great Seal. Key participants in 2025 events included Rear Admiral William Putnam as keynote speaker, Aaron Baker as master of ceremonies, the US Army Recruiting Battalion Phoenix, Sandra Day O'Connor High School Air Force JROTC and a range of community sponsors and nonprofit partners.
Board members did not take action on the program items themselves; the report was presented for information and to inform upcoming fundraising and planning. Staff said paver sales remain strong heading into 2026, and that event planning will continue with partners and volunteer support.
The board moved from the annual report to a maintenance discussion about the memorial’s condition; that item resulted in board direction to pursue a maintenance contract and a small working group to evaluate permanent runoff solutions.
