Oracle board ratifies personnel changes, summer staffing and a 14‑passenger bus purchase

The Governing Board of Oracle Elementary School District No.2 ratified a range of personnel actions and routine capital items at its April 14 meeting.
Personnel actions approved included a coaching reassignment (Sammy Lopez moved to assistant coach; Alonzo Martinez to head coach), the retirement of maintenance and bus driver Frank Gallardo effective June 30, 2025, several certified teacher resignations effective at the end of the 2024–25 school year, and new hires to begin in 2025–26 including Keri Anway as a special education teacher and Alysea Valdez as a food service substitute. The board also approved lists of hourly at‑will work agreements and support staff contracts for 2025–26.
Summer School staffing lists were presented and accepted, naming paraprofessionals, certified teachers and bus drivers for the summer program; the district reported 115 students registered for Summer School earlier in the meeting.
A capital bond purchase included on the consent agenda listed a 2024 GM 14‑passenger yellow school bus for $126,987.18 intended for the Linda Vista route; that purchase was approved as part of the consent motion.
Member Wendy Odell asked the superintendent to provide specific professional development for incoming kindergarten teachers; Superintendent Nehrmeyer confirmed that family members in leadership roles will not evaluate relatives and that practice will remain unchanged. Wendy Odell moved to approve the personnel matters and related items; Jeri Taylor seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The board also recognized Brianna Looney as the district’s Exceptional Employee of the Month and Digo Borunda Cervantes as the Exceptional Student of the Month.
