At a March 10 meeting, the Governing Board of Oracle Elementary School District No.2 approved the district calendar for the 2025–26 school year, an updated Certified Hiring Schedule effective July 1, 2025, and District Policy JIH (Student Interrogations, Searches, and Arrests).
Superintendent Jessica Nehrmeyer presented a calendar that exceeds Arizona Department of Education instructional‑minute requirements and said it reflects stakeholder feedback. The Board voted to adopt the calendar for the 2025–26 school year.
Nehrmeyer also recommended an updated Certified Hiring Schedule to help recruit certified teachers. The Board approved a 2.95% increase to each base salary level for incoming certified teachers and a change to recognize up to 15 years of prior experience rather than the current 10. The superintendent acknowledged input from Mrs. Hendrix and Mrs. Martin in preparing the schedule. The update will produce a stated $4,000 total cost adjustment for two current teachers; that adjustment will be reflected in those teachers’ contracts for 2025–26.
During the meeting the Board conducted a second read and approved District Policy JIH, addressing student interrogations, searches and arrests; Superintendent Nehrmeyer had shared the recommended updates at a February special meeting. The Board moved these items by formal motions and recorded the outcome as "all in favor, motion carried." Jeri Taylor was noted as absent and excused on the meeting roll call.
Why it matters: the calendar sets instructional time for the district, the hiring schedule is intended to make teacher offers more competitive for the coming school year and the JIH policy establishes district procedures governing student interviews, searches and related actions.
The Board scheduled follow-up policy reviews for April 2025 for other ASBA advisories and district policy updates that had received a first read.
