Oracle Elementary district to buy smaller bus; district will provide families with registered-offender information

Mrs. Nehrmeyer, a district staff member, said, "the District will purchase a smaller, 14-passenger bus to safely maneuver turns on Linda Vista. The school bus route will be added for the 25-26 school year. The District will continue to keep student safety at the forefront of our decision making process." She also said that information regarding registered sex offenders who reside in the District "will be available for families, to not interfere with current Arizona law."
Resident Mrs. Flintoff thanked the district for hearing her concerns and urged additional safety steps. She suggested that "back-up cameras could be installed on school buses" and recommended that the county "install additional signage on Linda Vista alerting drivers to the presence of school bus stops."
The board did not record a formal vote on purchasing the bus at the meeting; staff presented the plan as the district's intended approach for the 2025-26 school year. No timetable or funding source for the purchase was specified at the March 10 meeting. The district's statement emphasized ongoing attention to student safety and compliance with state law regarding disclosure of registered-offender information.
