The Temple City City Council approved its consent calendar by roll call and noted several community items including a temporary relaxation of overnight parking rules for holiday periods and a new ad hoc committee to develop a recently acquired corner lot.
Council Member Chen moved to approve the consent calendar; after a second the clerk reported the roll‑call vote as follows: Council Member Chen — yes; Council Member Sternquist — yes; Mayor Pro Tem — yes; Mayor Chavez — yes. Council Member Man was excused from the meeting.
One consent‑calendar item explained that overnight parking enforcement will be relaxed from Nov. 26 through Dec. 1 to accommodate Thanksgiving weekend and again from Dec. 2 through Jan. 5 for the winter holiday season; the city emphasized that street‑sweep regulations will remain in effect and directed residents with questions to City Hall.
During the manager’s update City Manager Cook introduced Alexander Kung as the new Administrative Services Director and City Treasurer; Kung thanked the council and said he looks forward to serving the community.
Mayor Chavez proposed forming an ad hoc committee to work with staff on ideas for development of a recently acquired corner lot on Sereno (the mayor proposed that Council Member Sternquist and he serve on the committee); the clerk was asked to note the appointment and staff will coordinate a first meeting.
Council members also gave brief reports on recent events and transit updates, including Metro line changes affecting Temple City and successful community events such as the park festival and trunk‑or‑treat. The meeting recessed to a successor agency meeting where the agency consent calendar was also approved by roll call; the council later returned and adjourned the meeting.
