Temple City Council unanimously adopts resolution correcting planning-services fee schedule

The Temple City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution No. 24-5 773 amending the Master Fee and Fine Schedule for fiscal years 2024–25 to correct an omission in planning-services fees.

The city manager told the council that during the budget process a cost-of-living adjustment had been adopted but was not passed along into the planning-services fee schedule. “No one was overpaying for fees but we've lost a little less than $1,000 worth of fees,” the city manager said, describing the resolution as a correction to align the fee schedule with council action during the budget.

At least one council member clarified the percentage used for the adjustment during the discussion: the manager referred to a 3% adjustment, and a council member corrected that figure to 4% before the council voted.

A council member moved to adopt the resolution and a second was given; the clerk called a roll call with all present members voting yes: Council Member Chen, Council Member Man, Council Member Sternquist, Mayor Pro Tem Youu and Mayor Chavez. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

What changed and what happens next: the amendment restores the intended planning-services fees in the city’s fee schedule. City staff said the omission cost the city under $1,000 in projected fee revenue; no additional fees were charged to residents during the omission. No further action or appeals were recorded at the meeting.
