Temple City confirms six commissioner appointments, fills one unexpired Parks seat

Temple City Council on July 16 confirmed multiple appointments to city advisory commissions and directed the city clerk to administer oaths before commissioners’ first meetings.

City Clerk Peggy Quo and members of the commissioner recruitment ad hoc committee presented their recommendations after interviewing 12 applicants for six seats. The ad hoc recommended reappointing Serge Hadad and Tom (Tom oir) to the Planning Commission for two‑year terms; reappointing Crystal Hadad and Jose Tarin to the Parks & Recreation Commission for two‑year terms; appointing Kathy Burough to fill a one‑year unexpired Parks & Recreation term; and reappointing Osama Nimry and Sunny Low to the Transportation/Public Safety commission for two‑year terms.

Council discussed the recommendations and opened public comment; a member of the public asked to defer an unrelated question to the later public comment period. The council then moved, seconded and adopted three separate resolutions (24‑5764, 24‑5765 and 24‑5766) to confirm the appointments. Roll call recorded unanimous approval from Council member Chen, Council member Man, Council member Sternquist, Mayor Pro Tem U and Mayor Chavez.

The clerk was directed to administer the official oath of office prior to commissioners’ first meetings and to schedule a ceremonial oath at a future council meeting. Council members thanked incumbent commissioners for their service and welcomed Kathy Burough to Parks & Recreation.

Next steps: the clerk will administer oaths and staff will provide orientation and scheduling details for newly confirmed commissioners.
