The Mendota Heights Parks and Recreation Commission elected Jaffrey Blanks as chair and Pau Cortes Valdes as vice chair during its March 10, 2026 meeting, and approved the commission bylaws.
Parks and Recreation/Assistant Public Works Director Meredith Lawrence called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and conducted roll call. Motion by Blanks, second by Michelle Muller, elected Jaffrey Blanks as chair (AYES 6: NAYS 0). Motion by Blanks, second by Muller, elected Pau Cortes Valdes as vice chair (AYES 6: NAYS 0).
The commission also approved the meeting agenda (motion by Muller, second by Michael Toth) and accepted minutes from the November 12, 2025 regular meeting and the February 10, 2026 worksession (motions passed unanimously). During the bylaws review, Chair Blanks said a show-of-hands could be used for contested votes; staff noted roll-call voting remains available if needed. The commission voted to adopt the bylaws after the review (motion by Daniel Van Lith, second by Muller, AYES 6: NAYS 0).
The actions formalize leadership for the coming year and confirm routine procedural rules for commission meetings. The commission adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
