Commission approves $202,000 Moffat Recreation Center bathroom remodel and several routine purchases

Earlier in the meeting the commission approved an emergency purchase for a replacement Mustang Z46 zero-turn riding mower for the facilities maintenance department at a fiscal impact of $3,899.98; commissioners also ratified a range of routine items on the consent agenda, including independent contracts for the 2026 Grand County Fair and marketing grant letters of support for festival events.
On the financial side, county staff presented and the commission approved the certified 2026 property-tax rates after noting that assessed values had risen and the county’s general-operations rate has decreased for the sixth consecutive year. County finance staff emphasized that a lower tax rate does not necessarily reduce an individual homeowner’s bill when assessed values increase.
The commission’s actions combined immediate operational approvals (mower purchase), a capital improvement decision intended to update heavily used public facilities, and routine fiscal certifications to keep county business on schedule.
