Plan Commission approves vacations of Minor Plats 562 and 844 with easement conditions

At its March 2 meeting the Plainfield Plan Commission approved two petitions to vacate Minor Plats 562 and 844. Staff and applicants had previously discussed the plats at an earlier meeting and the commission opened the public hearing for comment; no members of the public spoke.

For Minor Plat 562, Mr. Philip moved and Mr. McPhail seconded a motion finding that the conditions in the platted area had not changed to defeat the original purpose of the plat and that vacating the plat was in the public interest; the motion was approved unanimously. The approval is conditioned on the applicant ensuring that all easement holders have consented to removal or modification of easements granted in Minor Plat 562.

For Minor Plat 844, Mr. Philip moved and Mr. Brandgard seconded a motion finding that conditions had changed so as to defeat the original purpose of the plat and that vacation was in the public interest; the commission approved the motion unanimously. That approval is similarly conditioned on easement‑holder consent for removal or modification of the easements in Minor Plat 844.

Both motions were procedural approvals under the Subdivision Control Ordinance; the conditions place responsibility on the applicants to secure any needed easement consents before finalizing the vacating process.
