Manager reports equipment failure; Intercourse and Pequea Valley fire companies report monthly calls and a $21,000 loss

Township Manager Chris Slaymaker told supervisors at the April 7 meeting that the township experienced a power outage during which a transfer switch failed. Slaymaker reported replacement parts were impossible to obtain and that the township ordered a new transfer switch at a cost of $6,000.
Slaymaker also said the township's Public Works Department installed rip rap at the park at the request of the township engineer to comply with MS4 stormwater requirements. He told the board he had emailed PSATS resolutions and asked supervisors to review and advise him on how to vote on the township's behalf at association meetings.
Steve Dienner, chief of the Intercourse Fire Company, reported 11 calls during the month and a $21,000 fire loss at a local car-wash. A representative of the Pequea Valley Fire Company reported 142 EMS calls countywide for the month, 46 of which were in Leacock Township, and 31 fire calls, five of them in the township. The representative said a 20-year financial plan for Pequea Valley Fire Company has been completed and will be presented to the board at a future meeting.
Zoning Officer Joe Kennedy told the board that the township issued 26 permits in March and reviewed Zoning Hearing Board cases.
The board entered an executive session at 8:08 P.M. to discuss an ongoing legal matter and adjourned the meeting at 8:50 P.M.
