Norwich Township sold a parcel of township-owned land (Parcel 115 on Davidson Road) at a public auction held before the trustees' Dec. 9, 1985 meeting. The property was sold to H. Kelly Conklin and Mary Conklin for $13,500. The minutes record that a down payment was made at the close of the sale and that the balance is to be paid on receipt of the deed.
Background: earlier in the year trustees had reviewed sealed bids for the same property and, after consulting the prosecutor’s office, chose to proceed with a public auction; the board set auction details and a minimum bid and authorized advertising for the sale.
How it happened: the clerk recorded the auction result in the minutes and documented the buyer, the sale price and instructions for deed transfer. Trustees also approved administrative steps related to closing and deed exchange.
Next steps: the clerk will coordinate the deed exchange and receipt of the remaining purchase funds; the minutes indicate arrangements to meet at the buyer’s attorney as necessary.
