The city will add a drone show on Friday at 9:15 p.m. near the convention center and repeat traditional riverfront fireworks on Saturday, with three neighborhood launch sites to allow residents to watch from their neighborhoods while remote launch sites remain closed for safety.
Ross said Veterans Boulevard will have larger road closures both Friday and Saturday to accommodate vendors, crowds and safety zones for the fireworks launches. He emphasized the remote launch sites are safety‑controlled: attendees cannot be at the actual remote firing sites and officers will enforce exclusion zones. "We hope you enjoy them in the neighborhoods, but you can't be at the actual site to watch them that night," Ross said.
The event is expected to draw larger crowds than usual given the America 250 observances and the addition of the drone show; city staff and public safety partners will coordinate closures and emergency access.
Ross answered questions and said staff are available to provide further event details to the public and to coordinate traffic and safety measures.
