During the public comment period at the Nov. 24 council meeting, Jay Province urged the council to clarify whether the planning commission should actively lead planning and development or remain limited to permit review. Province suggested the council create a subcommittee to implement the comprehensive plan and expand the planning commission’s responsibilities.
An additional resident expressed appreciation for donations and volunteers supporting the community pool and noted the 'Tree of Love' program at Dollar General. Mayor April Grant thanked donors and invited a third-grade class to attend a council meeting.
The council did not take action on the planning commission suggestion at the meeting; the topic was presented for council consideration and could return on a future agenda.
