Crawford council approves hazard mitigation plan, insurance, phone system and routine bills

The Crawford City Council on Sept. 9 adopted Resolution 2025-10, approved new insurance for city transportation vehicles, authorized replacement of the City Hall phone system and approved the city’s bills and claims.
Council Member Patti Page moved to adopt Resolution 2025-10, the Region 23 Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Plan, and Council Member Dianne Gaston seconded. The motion carried with Page, Gaston and Christopher Dean voting aye and no opposing votes.
Council Member Christopher Dean moved and Patti Page seconded approval of Continental Insurance for Crawford transportation vehicles; the motion passed unanimously. Later the council approved replacing the existing City Hall telephone with an internet-based system from Eakes after a presentation by City Clerk Miller. Miller said the new system is “anticipated to save the city $228.00 a month with annual savings of $2,745.12” and will add features not available on the current, partly malfunctioning system. The motion to approve the Eakes phone system was made by Christopher Dean and seconded by Dianne Gaston; Dean, Gaston and Page voted aye.
The council approved the presented bills and claims, with the claims total listed as $103,623.47. The motion to approve bills was made by Christopher Dean and seconded by Patti Page; Dean, Page and Gaston voted aye.
Other routine consent items approved earlier in the meeting included the Aug. 26 minutes, a plumber permit for Watson Construction and a $10,000 allocation of Keno funds for removal of the rodeo grandstand. Christopher Dean moved to approve the consent agenda, Patti Page seconded and the motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 6:41 p.m.
