St. Martin Parish Council orders condemnation proceedings for two nuisance properties, leaves one postponed

At its March 2 meeting the St. Martin Parish Council reviewed multiple Rule to Show Cause matters alleging nuisance conditions on parish properties.
A Portage Road property (Parcel ID: 0140003145) was found moot after Compliance Officer Ronald Solarie presented photographs showing the property cleared following service of the rule; no owners appeared.
At 4430-L Poydras Highway in Breaux Bridge, property owner Larry James Eddy appeared and said weather delayed cleanup. After hearing testimony and reviewing photographs, the Council found the property to be a nuisance due to overgrown grass and debris and authorized Parish President Chester Cedars to proceed with an Order of Condemnation and Abatement; the Council allowed a 45-day remediation window. The motion was made by David Poirier and seconded by Byron Fuselier and adopted with Vincent Alexander absent at voting.
At 1671 Grand Anse Highway in Breaux Bridge the Council found that an extensive patch of bamboo (reported in the record as approximately 550 feet long and 10–11 feet wide along a property line) constituted a nuisance under Section 24-105 of the Parish Code. Owner Patricia Weiss provided a packet of materials to the Council but did not appear to contest the finding; the Council authorized the Parish President to proceed with an Order of Condemnation and Abatement. The Council postponed review of a nuisance matter at 1026 Adele Street while ownership is confirmed because the recorded owners are deceased.
All votes on condemnation and nuisance findings during the meeting were recorded as unanimous among voting members; Vincent Alexander was absent for some of the early votes.
