Moraine council approves Lexipole payment, authorizes NatureWorks grant application and hears routine reports

MORAINE, Ohio — The Moraine City Council on June 11 approved a series of routine but required items, including a 'then-and-now' certification for an overdue procurement invoice and a resolution authorizing a state grant application for a splash pad project.

By unanimous roll-call vote the council approved Resolution 8239-26 authorizing issuance of a 'then-and-now' certificate to cover an overdue annual invoice from Lexipole for the fire division’s policy manual and training. The certificate covered $12,636.91; the law director explained the fire division had overlooked placing a purchase order before the annual invoice was received.

Council also approved a resolution authorizing submittal of an application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources NatureWorks Grant Program to seek funding for a splash pad project. The resolution was described as a required element of the NatureWorks application and was approved by roll call.

Earlier in the meeting the council approved a minor correction to the May 28 meeting minutes (changing a Parks event date from June 30 to May 30), granted the law director temporary authority to perform clerk-of-council duties for this meeting and the committee-of-the-whole session that followed, and heard brief departmental reports. Mayor Murphy reported mayor’s court gross revenues for February 2026 of $24,510 with $19,230.89 deposited to the general fund. Councilmembers shared community updates, including recognition of recently retired firefighter Mark Irby and reminders about an upcoming Flag Day event in front of the city building.
