Giddings council seeks public input before moving on curbside RV and motor-home restrictions

GIDDINGS, Texas — The Giddings City Council on Feb. 9 discussed possible limits on parking of motor homes, campers and recreational vehicles on city streets but took no immediate action, directing staff to solicit public input before drafting an ordinance.
Interim City Manager Heather Garner told council, “Currently, motor homes, campers, and RVs may be parked on City streets in front of the owner's residence, except on certain designated narrow streets,” and presented options for council consideration: expanding restricted areas, establishing time limits for parking, or prohibiting on-street parking entirely. Mayor Pro-Tem Alan Casey asked Garner to run public notices and place an ad in the Giddings Times and News to invite citizen comment to inform drafting of a potential ordinance. Council Member Kevin Rinn asked to postpone formal consideration to the next meeting.
No ordinance or formal vote was recorded at this meeting. The council indicated it will use public feedback when preparing any ordinance language and return the item for further discussion at a future meeting.
