The Sahuarita Unified School District governing board voted to approve the Proposition 301 performance pay plan for school year 2024–25 after staff said the proposal is largely unchanged from last year.
Assistant Superintendent Scott DS told the board the plan allocates a proportion of performance pay to teacher evaluation results, professional growth goals, and districtwide measures such as student academic progress, an attendance target, and a parent-student survey. He said, “33% ... comes from a highly effective or effective evaluation on their teacher performance,” and noted additional components include professional growth objectives, a dropout threshold of less than 10% and an attendance goal of 90% or better. He recommended board approval as required by statute.
Superintendent Dr. Vuela recommended the board adopt the plan; members moved, seconded and approved it by voice vote. The plan will go into effect for the coming year as the district implements its teacher and student growth goals.
Why it matters: Proposition 301 is a voter‑approved sales tax mechanism that provides funds earmarked for education. The board’s plan determines how a portion of that revenue is distributed to teacher compensation and performance initiatives for the district.
