The board approved two facilities actions: a low bid award for site work to support two portable classrooms at River Oaks Elementary and a lease‑leaseback contract amendment for Valley Oaks building additions and site improvements.
District staff reported they received five proposals for River Oaks site work; the lowest qualified bid was from JWalt Construction Inc. at $520,800. Staff recommended moving forward using expanded learning program funds; trustees approved the contract award (item 242.737) by roll call (4–0).
For Valley Oaks, the board considered an amendment to the previously approved lease‑leaseback contract to cover increment one scope: a gender‑neutral restroom, multipurpose room restroom, staff parking reconfiguration, site improvements and demolition staging in preparation for increment two. The estimated cost for increment one was cited as a little over $1.5 million with a 5% contingency (~$63,000). Trustees approved the amendment (item 242.738) unanimously.
Staff said increment two (larger construction phases) will come forward once DSA approvals are complete and cost estimates are finalized.
