Sahuarita Unified board swears in new members and reorganizes leadership; routine approvals pass

The Sahuarita Unified School District governing board administered the oath of office to newly elected members and reorganized its leadership at its January meeting. Denise Reese was elected board president and Dr. John Sparks was elected clerk following nominations and voice votes.
Superintendent Dr. Valenzuela recommended approval of a revised meeting agenda; the board approved the agenda, ratified draft minutes of the Dec. 11 meeting and approved payroll and expense vouchers after a presentation by Chief Financial Officer Lis Huey. The board then approved the consent agenda, which included routine personnel, finance and auction items.
During roll call the board recorded the presence of President Denise Reese, Clerk Dr. John Sparks and governing board members Bruno, Rul Rodriguez and Amy Peters. District administration on the dais included Superintendent Dr. Valenzuela, Assistant Superintendents Scott DS, Brett Bonner and Darlene Robinson, and CFO Lis Huey.
The board set a next regular meeting for Jan. 29 at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned following approval of the consent agenda.
