Galt trustees approve LCAP after review of spring reading and MAP/I‑Ready results

Miss Simich presented spring assessment data for kindergarten through third grade, reporting that 65% of the district’s K–3 students met district reading benchmarks. She noted site differences (kindergarten ~72% districtwide; Lake Canyon and several cohorts exceeded targets) and described a district cohort growth target of 10% per year. Simich also addressed comparability questions about MAP and I‑Ready tests, saying the district will provide a spreadsheet comparing the instruments and their correlations.
Administrators and site principals reviewed local indicators from the California School Dashboard and school site single plans (SIPs). Principals described targeted actions for reading intervention (MTSS supports, instructional assistants, and digital programs), chronic‑absenteeism reduction efforts, and social‑emotional learning initiatives. Fairsite principal Lara Marquez reported on preschool DRDP results (strengths in physical development; instructional support and language/literacy cited as areas for growth) and said 50 families completed the preschool parent survey.
After discussion and recognition of site work, Trustee Katherine Harper moved to approve the district LCAP (item 242.729) and site single plans (item 242.734); the board approved both items by roll call (4–0). Trustees asked staff to continue reporting site‑level data and to provide requested assessments comparison charts.
