Giddings authorizes purchase of custom pumper using TDA grant funds

The Giddings City Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the city to purchase a US Fire Apparatus custom pumper from Kemper Emergency Vehicles using funds from a Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) grant.
Interim City Manager Heather Garner introduced the agreement and said the purchase is funded by a recently awarded TDA grant. GVFD Fire Chief Charlie Brown told the council that the vendor’s owner ‘‘does the work right’’ and that the new pumper will fit into the department’s existing fleet. Council Member Kevin Rinn moved to adopt Resolution No. 620-2026; the motion was seconded by Council Member Jacob Janda and passed with a unanimous vote by the five members present.
The resolution authorizes the city manager to execute the agreement with Kemper Emergency Vehicles; the minutes do not record delivery, price or contract-execution dates.
