Giddings council adopts federal-award language into purchasing policies

At the Feb. 23 meeting the Giddings City Council voted unanimously to adopt Addendum No. 1 to the Purchasing Policies and Procedures, incorporating 2 CFR 200 language that governs administrative requirements, cost principles and audit rules for federal awards.
Interim City Manager Heather Garner explained that adding the federal-code language aligns the city’s purchasing rules with requirements attached to many federal grants. Mayor Pro-Tem Alan Casey moved to adopt Resolution No. 619-2026; the motion was seconded and carried with Council Members Casey, Pruitt, Janda, Muniz and Rinn voting aye and no nays recorded.
City officials indicated the change is administrative and intended to ensure compliance with federal-award conditions; council did not attach any immediate budgetary adjustments to the adoption. Staff will integrate the addendum into the purchasing manual and apply it to relevant federal grants and awarded funds.
