Land & Water reports large tree sale, approves AIS grants with Marquette County Lakes Association

At the May Land & Water and Extension committee meeting, Marquette County staff reported a strong tree‑sale season (approximately 44,000 seedlings sold to 346 customers) and presented aquatic invasive species (AIS) grant recommendations vetted in partnership with the Marquette County Lakes Association. The committee approved six small AIS awards: $500 to Wood and Kilby Lakes and $250 each to Twin, Puckaway, Montello and Comstock Lakes, as recommended by staff.
Land & Water staff also summarized ongoing conservation‑program work: DATCP reporting, farmer nutrient‑management outreach, the county tree‑planting program and work on NG911 GIS hub updates. UW‑Extension educators provided written updates on 4‑H youth programming and adult education sessions.
The committee reviewed vouchers and set the next meeting date; members were encouraged to attend statewide LCC training opportunities.
