Marquette County Board of Health approves 2025 annual report, proclaims Men’s Health Week

The Marquette County Board of Health met May 5, 2026. The board received environmental health program updates and approved the 2025 Marquette County Public Health annual report for submission to the County Board.
Environmental health staff provided routine counts for March and April (rabies contacts, water tests, kennel contacts and housing concerns) and reported that the department’s water lab completed a DATCP audit and received certification for bacterial testing; the department is awaiting formal documentation of any DNR audit items related to nitrate testing protocols. Health Director Jayme Sopha summarized outreach such as Family Adventure Day (April 11), which drew an estimated 350 attendees and included 33 booths with community partners.
The board approved a resolution declaring June 15–21, 2026 as Men’s Health Week to encourage awareness of men’s physical and mental health care. The board also reviewed budget materials and vouchers and received routine business updates from staff.
