Marquette County’s Planning & Zoning Committee reviewed and approved multiple rezoning petitions in hearings held in early 2026 and forwarded them to the County Board for final action.
Petitions approved and forwarded included: Cheryl Selbach’s request to rezone 7.0 acres to Agricultural Residential (AG‑3(2)) and 61.60 acres to Farmland Preservation Overlay (FPO); James and Hope Spillner’s request to rezone at least 4.0 acres to AG‑3(4) with 31.63 acres to FPO (Town of Newton); and Dawson Vogelsang’s petition to rezone a minimum of 4.0 acres to AG‑3(4) with the remainder (45.38 acres) to FPO (Town of Packwaukee). Each petition was reported as properly noticed in the newspaper and had participated in town review and approvals where required.
Separately, the Brandner petition (Lot 1 of CSM 3908) was amended per the Town of Buffalo’s recommendation: the committee approved rezoning 10 acres to AG‑3(5) and leaving the remaining 37.04 acres as Agriculture & Open Space (AO), and moved that amended petition to the county board with a unanimous vote. Committee members asked questions about process and confirmed notifications and town recommendations were on record.
The committee also discussed routine department reports from the register of deeds, land information (including geospatial updates and grant work), and zoning staff who summarized permit activity, enforcement follow‑up, and the comprehensive plan update outreach schedule.
