Board approves April financials, notes longtime seasonal employee's passing and honors volunteers

The Nebraska State Fair Board approved its consent agenda, including the April 17, 2026 minutes, following a motion by Lanna Hubbard and a second from Tom Dinsdale. Joe Stump of AMGL presented the April financial report and Kevin Havlovic moved to approve the April 2026 financials as presented; Alan Kahle seconded and the motion passed unanimously on roll call.
Dawn Caldwell announced the death of longtime seasonal State Fair worker Wilma Knippelmeyer, who worked seasonally for about 50 years; Jaime Parr and other staff attended her funeral and the board remarked that Knippelmeyer will be greatly missed. Jaime Parr also reported that the Volunteer Banquet had more than 500 people in attendance and that volunteer David Zumbrum was honored for 1,868 hours of service.
The meeting closed after a motion by Dawn Caldwell to adjourn, seconded by Tom Dinsdale; the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 2:04 p.m.
