OSU student presents county trails master plan to Plain City council

An Ohio State University student presented a draft Trails and Greenway Master Plan to Plain City Council on April 14, describing proposed trail connections, priority projects, and environmental protections developed with the Union County Health Department.
The student said the plan emerged from significant public engagement and stakeholder meetings and identified six primary goals and four categories of recommendations, including education materials and a project-priority list. The presentation highlighted protections for Mill Creek and Big Darby Creek and described proposed amenities and trail types. When asked about funding, the student said the final plan will include suggested state and federal funding sources and cited Safe Streets for All as an example program.
Shawn Sech, Director of Health Promotion and Planning with the Union County Health Department, said the UC Moves Coalition can provide technical assistance to municipalities preparing grant applications and emphasized that finalizing the plan will help set project priorities and timelines.
