At its June 15 meeting, the North Augusta City Council unanimously approved ordinance 2026-11 to annex roughly 2.48 acres of property on East Buena/Buenov Vista Road at the request of SEC Contracting LLC. Councilman David Buck moved the measure and Pat Carpenter seconded; the mayor called the vote and it passed without opposition.
City planning staff (Miss Clifford) told the council this was a second reading and had been discussed in two prior study sessions; she said the annexation was requested by the property owner and was not a forced annexation. "This is at the request of the land owner, not a forced annexation," Miss Clifford said, and noted the parcel falls within the city's existing service capacity.
The panel took no public comments on the item during the meeting. The annexation will expand the city's corporate limits to include the parcel just before the commercial development and the BTC corridor noted by staff; no conditions or developer obligations were attached at the time of the vote.
Because the ordinance passed on second reading at this meeting, the annexed parcel will become part of the city subject to any required filing and implementation steps by staff. The council took no further action on related zoning or development approvals during this session.
