Jake, presenting the bid-award item, recommended awarding the RFQ to a firm that supplies covered driving-range structures and described prior pricing and expected benefits.
Jake said a March proposal for a 15-bay, 150-foot-by-25-foot structure came back at about $136,000 (installation, delivery and engineering included but excluding concrete). He said the Council's budgeted range is roughly $220,000 to $225,000 and that the project could be phased to add additional bays later.
Council moved to authorize the city manager to negotiate the design-build contract with the recommended firm and to return to Council if the contract price exceeds the city manager's spending authority. The motion passed unanimously.
Councilors noted potential uses beyond driving-range practice, including events and longer evening hours with lighting, and discussed options such as mats, dividers and future automation features that could be added later.
