The Alsip Village Board on June 15 approved a package of ordinances authorizing agreements with two property owners and renewing Class 6B assessment status for both parcels.
For 12736 South Ridgeway Avenue, the board approved an agreement with Smitty's Tree Service Inc. (ordinance 2026-06-1) and separately approved renewal of the property's Class 6B assessment status (ordinance 2026-06-2). Attorney Shannon Shien appeared for Smitty's Tree Service and described the family business history and planned capital needs including a roof replacement; she said the company currently employs about 42 full-time workers in summer and expects future growth. The roll call for the agreement (item H) recorded a majority in favor with Trustee McGloin voting no; the 6B renewal (item I) passed on the same split vote.
The board also approved an agreement with 12400 South Laramie Avenue LLC (ordinance 2026-06-3) and a renewal of Class 6B assessment status for that property (ordinance 2026-06-4). Roll-call votes on J and K carried, though Trustees McGloin, Murphy and Love voted no on those items.
Trustee McLaren presented routine finance materials earlier in the meeting and reported a grand total for accounts-payable funds of $318,723.95 as listed in the meeting materials; trustees did not request additional detail on the ordinances at the time of the votes.
Next steps: the ordinances become the listed ordinance numbers noted during roll call; implementation and any contractual details will be handled under the terms of the approved agreements and applicable tax-assessment processes.
Topics: local economic development, tax-assessment renewals, municipal agreements.
