Town staff told the Water and Sewer Commission on Jan. 21 that meter installation and plant work are progressing.
On meters, staff reported that five meters were installed that day and that the town has installed more than 200 total (the presenter cited about 212 meters installed). Staff said they are coordinating with vendor contacts and Connie (staff) to enable automatic data uploads to the billing system so the new meters will minimize manual entry. The town plans to enable a customer portal after the billing interface is complete.
In the superintendent's operations report, staff said a recently installed septage screen PLC is working after final tweaks. Septage intake varied (examples given in the meeting included roughly 30,000 gallons on Monday and 20,000 gallons on the following day), which affected biosolids processing rates. The superintendent said the plant budget included $150,000 for biosolids disposal for the July–December period and reported $48,000 spent to date for that same period.
The superintendent also reported a worn distribution auger that is plugging and needs rebuilding; staff are seeking cost estimates and exploring local repair shops as lower‑cost options. Preventive maintenance efforts have increased to reduce recurring failures and extend equipment life.
What’s next: Staff will continue meter roll‑outs, arrange vendor integration for automated uploads, and obtain repair estimates for the auger and other plant equipment.
