Parker council proclaims awareness weeks and highlights spring community events

The Parker Common Council opened its meeting with proclamations recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, April 5–11 as the Week of the Young Child and April 6–12 as National Library Week, then heard a chamber report on upcoming community events.
Lillian Perez, community outreach educator for Colorado River Regional Crisis Services, read the proclamation for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and brought a basket of awareness items for attendees. “I’m honored to be here tonight to present a proclamation recognizing April as sexual assault awareness month,” Perez said.
Mayor Randy Hartless read proclamations for early childhood education and library week, urging residents to support early-care programs and visit local library resources. In the chamber director’s report, Eric Daniels, executive director, listed weekend events including a ribbon cutting for new turf at Aaron Hillfield, Parker Little League opening day and a Healthy Law Expo at Western Park. He also noted the chamber received a rural co-op marketing grant and that 647 participants had registered for the Parker two-float event.
The proclamations are ceremonial recognitions; no formal council action was required. The council later paused for executive session items on the agenda.
