The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 7 held a public hearing and approved Resolution 2026-04 to supersede an earlier action and convey a county-owned strip of land to the U.S. Forest Service for lots 1, 7 and 8. Staff said the county strip is overgrown and effectively abandoned and that Forest Service Road 14433 (Nixon Road) provides existing access to affected private properties.
A property owner who attended said he had no objection to the proposed conveyance, but commissioners sought written confirmation from the Forest Service that Nixon Road would remain open and that the agency does not intend to gate or close the road in the future. The board approved the conveyance with the explicit condition that a Forest Service letter confirming no intent to close the road be added to the conveyance packet.
County staff will record the Forest Service correspondence in the official packet; if the letter is not provided, commissioners said they would revisit the matter. The action rescinds resolution 2024-36 for the subject parcels and formally authorizes the county to transfer the described strip to federal management once the condition is satisfied.
