Douglass Township swears in officer, approves donor-funded patch and authorizes Corporal testing

District Justice Maurice Saylor administered the oath of office to Veronica Maryanski at the August 18 Douglass Township Board of Supervisors meeting, and Chief Robert Evans welcomed her to the township police force.
Chief Evans presented the department’s July 2025 statistics: 883 calls for service, two reportable accidents, 11 non-reportable accidents, nine criminal investigations, seven criminal arrests, 33 traffic citations and nine non-traffic citations. The department asked the board to approve a newly designed uniform patch paid for by a private donor; the board approved the patch at no cost to the township.
Chief Evans told the board that retirements in the coming years will leave two supervisory vacancies and asked the board to authorize the start of testing for two Corporal promotions in 2026. "Due to expected police retirements in the next few years of both supervisory positions within the department, I am requesting consideration from the Board to begin the process of two promotions to Corporal positions," he said. The board authorized Chief Evans to begin the process.
The swearing-in, the patch approval and the testing authorization were each adopted by motion and recorded roll-call votes.
