The Bristol Select Board acknowledged on Jan. 7 that John Bowers submitted a resignation email from his long-held role as a planning board alternate.
The chair announced, "John Bowers emailed me with a resignation. I believe that was formal enough to resign," and members said they would thank him for 10–12 years of service and consider potential replacements. The board discussed notifying alternates and that the highest vote-getter in the next relevant election who accepts the seat would fill the vacancy if applicable.
Members asked staff to include alternates when advertising committee openings and suggested reaching out to experienced residents who might be willing to serve as planning-board alternates.
