A board member said, "I think there was some frustration over the weekend... that Hagar didn't have enough trucks running this weekend. Hence, the snow wasn't getting plowed as fast as it should have been," and the board scheduled a meeting with Hagar and town staff for 9 a.m. on Jan. 30 to review operations.
Staff reported the town has passed the 3,000-yard threshold in its sand contract, which triggers additional procurement considerations. "Seth emailed me and he said that we have passed the 3,000 yard mark... we have now passed that mark and according to the contract..." a board member said. Members discussed whether to purchase more sand now or use state-ordered sand at a lower rate and agreed to defer a bulk purchase until after the meeting with Hagar and further information from staff.
Board members described inconsistent plow sequencing and communication issues that left side roads unplowed, noting that some trucks made multiple passes on main roads while side roads were missed. Members asked staff to press the contractor for improved coordination and to report back after the planned meeting.
