Resident accuses board of 'decay' and questions contract spending during public comment

Wilson accused the board of fostering a "festering decay" that he said began with a disciplinary action more than two years ago involving the district's former superintendent, Dr. Wesley Doll. He alleged the board improperly handled the matter, said the district hired outside counsel to investigate at public expense, and criticized the board’s recent handling of a small dental contract that he described as receiving disproportionate attention. "No reasonable person could possibly think the ridiculous discussions for the second year in a row on the dental contract have anything to do with money or dental health," he said, alleging the underlying motive was personal connections.

Wilson also cited a sharp increase in solicitor fees, listing recent billings that totaled $29,455 compared with previous billings of $7,871; he named other expenditures such as $25,000 for a disciplinary investigation and $11,000 for a superintendent search firm. He urged the public to watch how future investigations are handled and criticized the board's priorities, saying they had "demoralized the teaching staff" and called on the board to change its approach.

The board did not take immediate action during the meeting in response to Wilson’s allegations. His remarks drew applause from meeting attendees at the conclusion of his comments.
