Committee approves renderings for two beachfront restroom pavilions, discusses consultant engagement

He said that if the committee decides to engage consultant Barbara Hulani, the expected consulting cost would be roughly $10,000 (based on prior projects priced at about $5,000 per larger project).
Sponsor Commissioner Laura Dominguez said the agenda item specifically references collaborations with Hulani and asked that future items labeled for that collaboration actually include her scope. Several members agreed smaller-scale projects might be completed without the consultant’s engagement and asked staff to coordinate larger or more visible efforts through economic development and the sponsor’s office.
Motion and outcome: a motion to proceed with the two renderings received a second and the committee approved the item to move forward.
Next steps: Staff will proceed with repainting plans for the two restroom pavilions and follow the sponsor’s direction about whether to engage Hulani on additional sites.
