Board approves migrant-student trip, emergency repairs and food-service price increase

The Saddle Mountain Unified School District Governing Board voted on several action items at its March 11 meeting:
The board approved a migrant-student STEM trip to San Francisco in May. Rebecca Dominguez, a migrant coordinator, said the consortium trip will take about 20–25 students to museums and labs; student Marco Vargas said he was "very grateful" and excited to see Alcatraz.
The board approved emergency procurement and cleanup for a water-line break at Winners Well Elementary after staff described a damaged irrigation/sprinkler line that required immediate repair.
The board accepted the FY25 audit reports (audited financials, single audit and USFR compliance questionnaire) after staff outlined a reportable local-funds finding tied to SFB reimbursements (see separate coverage).
The board approved a Department of Education-required increase in adult breakfast prices from $3.15 to $3.25 for the remainder of the school year.
Finally, after pulling it from the consent agenda earlier in the meeting, the board approved the certified professional employee list for 2026–27 as recommended; staff said counts (but not names) of returning employees can be provided to the board by late April/early May.
Votes were taken by voice; minutes record motions as "All in favor, say aye," and the chair announced motions passed for the above items.
