At its June 16 meeting the Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved several administrative items: FY27 contracts and county financial support totaling $113,330 for four public libraries, authorization for the auditor to issue warrants and publish a claims listing totaling $240,985.71, an ownership update for a Class C retail alcohol license at Bluff Lake (Makoka), and a resolution setting contract/off‑duty law‑enforcement pay.
Auditor Smith presented the FY27 library contracts covering Belleview, Makoka, Preston and Sibila and asked the board to authorize the chair’s signature on the agreements; the board approved $113,330 in county support. The board also authorized the auditor to issue warrants and publish the claims listing in the amount of $240,985.71, a packet that included customary purchases such as rock and software services.
On law enforcement pay the board adopted Resolution 1189‑06‑16‑2026 establishing $85 per hour for officers not employed by Jackson County who provide contract security and 1.5 times normal rate for county officers when assigned off duty. Supervisors clarified the prior contract rate had been $75 per hour and was increased to $85 to account for higher costs.
What happens next: the auditor will execute warrants and publish claims as required; library contracts will be executed and the county will provide the approved financial support; county staff will notify relevant agencies and private firms of the updated off‑duty officer pay rate.
