The Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved awards for the county’s FY27 fuel contracts on June 16, selecting River Valley Energy (Belleview) as the low bidder for gasoline and diesel and Egg Advantage FS (Makoka) as the low bidder for LP gas.
Public Works presented bid tabulations and recommended awarding fuel to River Valley Energy and LP gas to Egg Advantage FS; board members moved and approved both awards. Staff cautioned that the bid numbers are margin add‑ons to a weekly rack average—the per‑gallon price paid by the county will vary with market rack pricing and weekly blends.
"What they're bidding on is not what they're submitting as the per‑gallon price we pay per gallon," one presenter explained, saying the bid represents the markup the vendor will apply to the weekly rack average. The board approved the contracts and authorized necessary signatures.
What happens next: county departments will direct fuel purchases to the awarded vendors under the contract terms, and staff will provide detailed bid tab figures to auditors upon request.
