The Dunn County Judiciary and Law Committee approved a budget amendment to accept a $22,981 grant for the sheriff’s office to purchase a ventless hood system for testing suspected illegal substances in the evidence area.
Sheriff Kevin told the committee the equipment is intended to protect officers from exposure to fentanyl and other hazardous substances. "We were awarded a grant of $22,981 to purchase a ventless um hood system for testing suspected illegal substances in our evidence area," he said.
The committee moved, seconded and approved the budget amendment by voice vote. A committee member noted the executive committee is reviewing procedures that could streamline approval of small, specific-use grants so similar items may not require committee review in the future.
Next steps: With the amendment approved, the sheriff’s office will follow procurement procedures and purchase the ventilated hood system for use in evidence processing.
