The Jefferson Select Board handled several administrative and operational items on Jan. 12, signing an appointment, directing follow-up on assessing work and permits, and recording a transfer‑station budget increase.
The board signed the appointment of Alexander K. Ciskowski as Emergency Management Agent. On assessing, Administrator Lynne Barnikow asked that 'Zeb' return to finish prior work without meeting the public in person; the board approved that arrangement and directed Rob (or another agent) to meet residents within two weeks to complete in‑person work. The board also instructed staff to reach out to three assessing services—John E. O'Donnell, Parker Appraisals, and RCS Assessing Services—to ask whether they are accepting new towns.
Claudia Orff‑Reed reported she had been at Daniel Swartzentruber’s property and received two permits that had not been submitted; the board agreed to charge the after‑the‑fact permit fee. Donald Waltzs requested door codes so he can access the copier and files; the board directed staff to provide the codes.
Pamela Grotton reported seeing an employee take unpaid vacation in apparent conflict with the town’s policy that employees must work 36 hours to qualify for benefits; the board instructed Administrator Barnikow to write up the employee. Barnikow also reported an 11% increase to transfer‑station costs, recorded in the minutes as $138,609.16. The Select Board signed expense warrants for $14,581.21 and reconvened the budget process on Jan. 22, 2026.
The minutes record that there was no executive session and that the meeting adjourned at 8:14 p.m.
