Wayne, the town road commissioner, told the board the bridge "was coming apart" and recommended placing three-inch planks to carry the structure through winter. The board made a motion to spend a maximum of $2,000 for the planks; the motion was seconded and approved 3-0.
Select Board member Pamela Grotton confirmed the decision during the meeting and noted the measure is intended as a temporary winter fix while the town evaluates longer-term options. The board discussed coordinating culvert cleaning after traps are removed at nearby locations and asked Wayne to monitor the bridge's condition.
The board did not attach a schedule or funding source beyond the $2,000 authorization. Officials said they will follow up with more detailed cost estimates and a plan for a permanent repair later this winter.
