The Jefferson Select Board signed appointment papers on Sept. 22 to appoint Tabatha MacArthur as Town Clerk, Deputy Tax Collector and Registrar of Voters.
Lynne (town staff) presented the paperwork for the appointment and the board signed the documents. The board also reviewed and signed the Assessor's Certification during the meeting.
Later in the session Lynne briefed the board on office access and account security. She said extra keys will be made and the bank can print a list of town accounts; she cautioned against sharing personal passwords and suggested staff set up distinct user IDs. Lynne said the back-office door code could be provided but that the Clerk's area code would remain restricted until sensitive documents are secured in locked cabinets.
The board asked Lynne to research whether an Assistant Treasurer position could be created to provide additional financial support; Lynne said she would investigate.
