The Waukesha Board of Public Works on June 5 approved several contract awards and consultant recommendations for 2025 capital projects.
Staff recommended proceeding with the low bid from Thunder Road for the 2025 paving crack‑filling project at $236,500; the board moved, seconded and approved the recommendation.
For a drop‑off used‑oil collection improvement, staff reported three bids and recommended the low bid from Short Pour Delivery Services at $50,180. Joe Piper moved to approve the contract; the motion was seconded and the board approved the award. Staff said Short Pour has worked as a subcontractor on prior projects and references were checked.
The board approved award of the base bid plus alternate 1 for the Fire Station Number 2 and 3 generator 3‑way switch project to Will Surge for $121,758. Staff explained why Station 4’s cost was lower: Station 4 is served by a residential‑style electrical service requiring a single transfer switch, whereas Stations 2 and 3 have larger services and two transfer switches each and also house police substations, increasing electrical complexity.
Staff recommended the low bid from Zenith Tech for traffic signal improvements at West Sunset Drive and South Prairie Avenue for $368,001.07; the board approved moving forward with the low bidder and noted coordination with the town on the project.
On consultant selection, staff described an RFP sent to six firms with five responses and a review team that scored proposals on credentials and cost. The review team recommended ISG as the highest‑scoring firm for as‑needed architectural and civil design services for 2025–26 CIP projects; ISG was characterized as having a Milwaukee area office and an in‑house multi‑disciplinary team. The board voted to enter a contract with ISG; staff confirmed design fees would be charged to capital projects.
Finally, the board approved a public sanitary sewer easement agreement between Continental 665 Fund and the City of Waukesha for a Summit development; staff said the easement is shown and recorded on the CSM but the agreement was missed previously and is being corrected.
All motions related to these items were moved and seconded and recorded by the board; staff will proceed with contract execution and project scheduling.
