Jefferson Select Board reviews $40,000 salt-shed repair estimate, schedules Glidden Bridge site visits

The Jefferson Select Board on Sept. 22 discussed a series of maintenance needs after a contractor estimated $40,000 to repair the town’s salt shed.
Select Board member Robert Clark Jr. said contractor Eric Calderwood provided the estimate and will meet with the board at the Glidden Bridge to discuss what work is needed and timing. Clark said Calderwood would come out to the bridge and review the site with the board.
Select Board member Pamela Grotton said she has contacted a company that told the board it can repair the Glidden Bridge culvert without stopping traffic. Grotton said she has requested available dates from Calderwood and asked him to email Lynne with times so the town can schedule an on-site review.
The board also discussed tree trimming on North Mountain Road. Claudia Orff-Reed said Nathan has not yet cut down the trees but that the roadwork is high on the town’s list. Road Commissioner Wayne reported that the Fire Department had pushed a fallen tree on Jones Road to the roadside but that the tree still needs to be removed.
The board did not take a vote on specific bridge or road work at the meeting but directed staff to arrange on-site visits with contractors for more detailed estimates and scheduling.
